John C. McIntire
Non-Executive Chairman

Retired Partner of Goldman, Sachs & Co, where he spent 12 years and was CEO of the Latin American region; 30 years of experience in capital markets and banking, primarily in Latin America, and currently a principal in two New York-based funds focused on that region and on the US Hispanic market. Co-Chair of the Global Advisory Board of Endeavor, the leading non-profit focused on entrepreneurship in the emerging markets. Cuban-born, John holds a BA in Economics from Princeton. He resides in the NYC area.
Jon Karlen

General Partner at Flybridge Capital Partners whose investment interests and experience include enterprise software, consumer-focused products and online services, and energy technology. Jon currently represents the firm on the boards of Digital Lumens, Open English, and Virtual Computer, Inc. He also previously sat on the boards of Eka Systems (acquired by Cooper Power Systems), GamerDNA (acquired by Crispy Gamer), and (acquired by Dell) ZING Systems. Prior to joining Flybridge, Jon served as Director of Product Marketing at OATSystems, an RFID software company. He holds a BA in Philosophy from Harvard University and an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
Wendy Worcester
Chief Administrative Officer of Thompson National Properties, a $1 billion provider of real estate investment opportunities to high-net-worth private and institutional investors worldwide. Formerly Worcester served as Chief Financial Officer at Rent.com, a pioneer in online rentals, from its start-up until its acquisition by eBay in 2005 for $433 million. Worcester holds a BA from USC and is a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst. She resides in Orange County, CA.
Luis A. Salaverría
Founder & CEO of Grupo TVOffer, the largest direct marketing company in Central America. Founded 17 years ago, Salaverría has led Grupo TVOffer from a one country pure play direct marketer to a regional leader with presence in 6 countries, 44 retail outlets and 2 TV stations. Salaverría is also president of Diprisa, a leading Wine & Spirits distribution company in El Salvador which is expanding operations throughout Central America and serves on numerous boards. He is a founder of the Salvadoran chapter of Young Entrepreneur’s Organization (now EO) and an active member of Young President’s Organization (YPO). Holds a BBA with a specialization in Marketing from the University of Mississippi.
Juan F. Salaverría
Oversees Open English Latin American distribution and marketing for Grupo TVOffer. Salaverria joined Grupo TVOffer for the OpenEnglish launch after spending time doing principal investing focused in Latin America. Most recently in New York based hedge fund Nexstar Capital Partners and earlier with Private Equity Fund, Darby Overseas Investments. Salaverría started his career at Deutsche Bank’s Latin American Investment Banking Group in NY. Currently serves on the boards of two non-profits, Funpres and Glasswing International. Holds a BA from the University of Chicago and an MBA from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania.
Thomas "Tigre" Wenrich
Tigre is a multi-cultural executive with experience in finance, marketing, and operations. After a successful 16-year career with The Boston Consulting Group in the U.S., Spain and Mexico, he retired to Miami, Florida where he subsequently participated in a roll-up in the retail money service business (remittances, check cashing, payday advance). After selling his stores in early 2009, Tigre joined Open English in August. Born in the Dominican Republic, Tigre holds a B.A. from Stanford University.
Andres Moreno
Andres lived in the U.S. and 7 other countries on 3 continents while growing up, and learned to speak 4 languages. He began his entrepreneurial career in Venezuela, co-founding a company that provided Fortune 500 companies such as Procter and Gamble, Sun Microsystems, and Cargill with one-on-one English language instruction for their Latin American executives. After this company was unable to scale to meet demand, Andres spent the next four years developing innovative technologies and techniques that can scale online language training. Such proprietary technologies and content are at the core of Open English.
